[SACRAMENTO, CA]The Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) is thrilled to announce that its Buildings Program Director, Jim Meyers, has been honored with the nation’s highest energy code award, the prestigious Jeffrey A. In presenting the award, the U.S. Department of Energy’s Jeremy Williams highlighted Meyers’ leadership in developing new model code language through International Code Council committees, his success in getting some of the first electric vehicle charging requirements into building codes – a model that has since been replicated many times since – and his work training thousands of energy code stakeholders in building science and energy code requirements.

“[Jim Meyers] is a network builder, and an example of effective collaboration and practicality,” said Williams. Meyers was also recognized for his passion for new technologies and innovative approaches, his work to inspire new workforce to enter the field, his tireless work on countless state and local code adoptions. and being a “genuinely nice guy.” His SWEEP Board and colleagues couldn’t agree more.

Upon receiving the award, Meyers shared his appreciation for the honor: “I was amazed and honestly shocked to receive the Jeffrey A. Johnson award at the National Energy Codes Conference in Sacramento last week. It’s an honor to be in the ranks of the many other recipients who have contributed to the advancement of energy codes and received this award.”

SWEEP congratulates Jim Meyers on this very well-deserved recognition and thanks him for his dedication, leadership, and innovative approaches in advancing energy efficiency and sustainable practices in the building industry.
